Genomatica, Solazyme, Amyris, BASF take top slots in The 30 Hottest Companies in Biobased Chemicals & Materials for 2014-15

Renewable chemicals developer Genomatica took the #1 spot in the 2014-15 “30 Hottest Companies in Biobased Chemicals and Materials” rankings, published today in The Digest, the world’s most widely-read advanced bioeconomy daily.

It is Genomatica’s fourth consecutive year at the top of the rankings.

Solazyme (#2), Amyris (#3), BASF (#4), LanzaTech (#5), DSM (#6), Elevance Renewable Sciences (#7), DuPont Industrial Biosciences (#8), and BioAmber and Virent (#10) rounded out the top 10.

Ranked #11 through #20 are Novozymes, Avantium, Verdezyne, Gevo, Myriant, Braskem, Renewable Energy Group, Beta Renewables / Chemtex, OPX Biotechnoologies and NatureWorks.

Ranked #21 through #30 are POET-DSM, Segetis, Enerkem, Cobalt Technologies, Rivertop Renrewables, Liquid Light, Renmatix, Green Biologics, Yulex and BioProcess Algae.

The rankings, which recognize innovation and achievement in biobased chemicals and materials development, are based 50 percent on votes from an invited panel of distinguished international selectors, and 50 percent on votes from subscribers of The Digest

Overall, more than 100,000 individual company ratings were received from panelists and voters in the annual Hot 30, Hot 40 and Hot 50 rankings

New companies in the list this year are: Renewable Energy Group (#17), NatureWorks (#20), POET-DSM (#21), Green Biologics (#28), Yulex (#29) and BioProcess Algae (#30).
