In the closest pole fight since Mercedes lost the front row to Williams back in Austria, Nico Rosberg beat Lewis Hamilton to the Brazilian GP pole position by just 0.033 sec. The drive of the day, however, had to be Felipe Massa’s strong P3 run, just 0.2 off of Hamilton on a track that, in the past, has shown a tendency to produce wild results.
Jenson Button put in a solid P5 behind the Mercedes-powered Williams in the second row, and will line up alongside last year’s winner, Sebastian Vettel, on the third row.
As at Austin, neither Marussia or Caterham managed to get enough money together to make it to the track, and dark clouds of financial doom and gloom still hang over the Sauber, Force India, and Lotus teams. Here’s hoping they all make it past tomorrow’s Brazilian GP!
