Have any of you ever dreamed of a car made out of fabric?

Volkswagen’s Spanish arm, SEAT, just created one.

SEAT unveiled this week the world’s first fabric car, constructed entirely of lace, with jewel trim. Yes, it is full size, but there is no engine and I wouldn’t bet much on crash protection. On the flip side, it sure is light!

The company had this car fabricated to celebrate the UK availability of its SEAT Mii by MANGO city car.

The fashion-inspired full size replica was designed and constructed in London over a period of three days, said SEAT.

Here are a few numbers about this unique creation:

• 45 meters (49.212 yards) of nude colored cotton lace
• 25 kilos of resin to set the lace
• 10 meters (10.936 yards) of black cotton lace to build four 3D alloy wheels
• 70 meters (76.552 yards) of lace trimming with jewel embellishment
• 8 craftsmen team

Ashley Joiner, a creative director and graduate of Central Saint Martins, was brought on board to manage the project, from conception through to delivery.

“Lace is one of the hottest fashion trends right now, so it made sense to use lace as the primary material for the SEAT Mii by MANGO, a fashion-inspired city car,” said Ashley Joiner. “I’m absolutely thrilled to be part of this project, which combines my film and design experience.”

Nude colored lace was used as the SEAT Mii by MANGO is a special edition city car available exclusively in either nude or black, in three- or five-door versions, with a contrasting interior including Alcantara upholstery.

SEAT stated with atom grey door mirrors, stylish 15″ alloy wheels, chrome door strips and a spacious boot, the flagship Mii is the ideal fashion accessory, from catwalk to high street.
