Stress-Strain Curve Integration

An alternative method of assessment of vessel strain is simply to integrate the standard stress-strain curve for the work energy absorbed. This assumes uniform energy absorption, no effect from the internal structure within the vessel, and of course, that the classic stress-strain curve applies. These are the same assumptions as were made in the Proctor method. Such an integration method is’.

where the units are those of Eq. (5.10). This equation also assumes, as did Proctor’s, that there is a 67% efficiency in transforming blast into impulse to the vessel wall.
