Renewable Energy World LIVE — 2014 Edition — Starts Now

Renewable energy stakeholders from all across the world, representing all facets of the industry, have gathered Orlando, Fla. for one of the best all-inclusive renewable energy events of the year. Renewable Energy World Conference and Expo North America, co-located with POWER-GEN International, Nuclear Power International and the Financial Forum are convening for Power Generation Week, an action-packed five days complete with educational sessions, technical tours, workshops, award ceremonies, keynote addresses, networking breakfasts, parties and so much more.

On Monday night PennWell will hand out its Project of the Year Awards and name the 2014 POWER-GEN Woman of the Year at the Annual Awards Gala.

The conference kicks off Tuesday at 9:30 AM with a keynote that should shed light on some of the most pressing energy issues. Renewable Energy World Conference sessions begin at 1:30 with panels and presentations being offered in five different tracks: Large-scale Renewables, Distributed Energy Resources, Utility Integration, Hybrid Solutions and Renewables in the Developing World.  Some of the hottest topics on the agenda are:

  • Transactive Energy. How are utilities managing the two-way flow of electrons in their grids?
  • Energy Storage. Is it needed to enable the grid of the future?  Where and in what scenarios?
  • The Next Generation of Utility-scale Power.  The transition to a low-carbon energy supply is underway. What will the future look like?
  • Distributed Energy Resources. How do we enable customer adoption of them? What is their impact on the grid?
  • Microgrids. What opportunities do they offer and what challenges need to be overcome to create more of them?
  • Fossil and Renewable Energy Partnerships. How can the existing generation work alongside new forms of energy generation?
  • Renewables in the Developing World. What do we need to bring power to people who need it?

In the Thursday mega-session, a panel of experts will take a hard look at EPA’s proposed regulations and try to assess what the future will hold for the power industry in the U.S.
