Standards

Standards are also produced by the engineering societies and govern­mental institutions to provide limits for the design of various components.

For example, the American Society for Testing Materials (ASTM) provides for piping standards (4), and the United States of America Standards In­stitution (USASI) provides a vast number of everyday standards as well as those of use in the nuclear industry (5).
